The People's Champions – Will they get a title shot?
After a month of boxing in May to find the best among the rest, two fighters stood on top of the mountain on each console and earned the right to be called The People's Champion.
On the XBOX 360 side, Jesse "BQ32" Bean defeated George "iwpysi" Carter by KO in the 10th round in the semi-final round before facing Nicolas "xSoSxSOLID NSV" Varela in the finals who defeated Carlos "DA SIMPLIFIER" Hernandez by KO in the 6th round in their semi-final.
Before the finals, xSoSxSOLID NSV was unsure if he would be able to beat BQ32 who finished on top of the leaderboard portion of the tournament, "My opponent is very good and very skilled. I'm going to give it my all."
On the other side, this would be BQ32's opportunity to win a title as he claims he's been passed-on by the current title holders, "I have consistently been ducked and have never been given an opportunity for a title even though I was ranked 3rd overall."
In the finals, both fighters would take their created boxers into the bout and though xSoSxSOLID NSV would put up a great fight beating his own expectations going nine rounds, it was BQ32's 30% higher connect percentage that would KO the underdog and earn BQ32 the People's Champion title for the XBOX 360.
On the PS3 side of things, the top seed and former Middleweight champ, Steven "buckdacious" Buck was upset by Brandon "hothandz22" Darby who scored a fourth round KO in their semi-final bout. In the other semi-final, Erick "erock_617" Sanchez lost to Tony "BelikeWater10" Liang in five rounds to set up the final between him and hothandz22.
In the final, BelikeWater10 would use strong defense to set up his counter-punches while hothandz22 continued to try to find holes to hit the larger boxer. The fight would eventually go 6 rounds, however, in the 5th was where BelikeWater10 would punish hothandz22 putting him onto the canvas twice. The sixth would see him hitting the canvas one last time and not recovering handing the win and the People's Championship to BelikeWater10.
